Apto. Stolz

2025. Valencia.

An apartment in the heart of Valencia. Plenty of life outside, little calm inside.

Living in the center of Valencia, in a small corner apartment, means living with complicated geometry, angles, circulation, and square meters that go to waste.

Apto. Stolz starts from a 50 m² footprint where feeling boxed in is easy. The project’s goal is clear: to reorganize the home to gain a sense of spaciousness, relocating functions according to the client’s daily routine, noise levels, and natural light.

Starting from a simple scheme a day–night axis and a second one for the services associated with those uses, placed along the party walls, we achieved a flow that resolves into a clean layout, with no crossings or abrupt changes.

We concentrated the intervention in a timber volume that allows us to correct the geometry and organize the floor plan.

This core houses storage, the laundry area, and building services. It also resolves the kinks of the chamfered corner and frees up the rest of the floor plan.

From the entrance, the timber core guides both the eye and the path, an easy, intuitive gesture achieved through a clear contrast of materials.

Next comes a single daytime space: a linear kitchen alongside the dining area, workspace, and living room, all sharing the same floor, light, and rhythm. Unavoidable elements are integrated as part of the composition, establishing an axis at the center of daily life.

The night zone is set on the quieter façade. The bedroom is conceived as a serene space, with a continuous headboard, soft textiles, and light filtered through curtains that wrap the room.

In the bathroom, the wall finishes and countertop introduce a bold, intense accent, an approach already used in the kitchen, that helps unify the palette and create chromatic continuity throughout the home, reinforcing the idea of a retreat.

Materials support the sense of order, a porcelanic tile floor unifies the entire apartment, while dark timber lends weight to the central volume and built-in furniture, contrasting with light-toned surfaces that capture and soften the natural light.

The project focuses on clarifying and defining, every gesture responds to a need.

The result is a small apartment that feels spacious and clear, where daily life moves without friction.
